Version 1.3.0

Version 1.3.0 is the launch of the Protege X Application Programming Interface (API) - putting the power of Protege X into your hands.

Protege X API and PATs

The Protege X API is a tool for developers to create custom integrations for Protege X systems. This opens up a wide range of opportunities for integrators and customers to add value to the system:

  • Data synchronization

  • Visitor and employee management

  • Short-term bookings

  • Custom-branded user interfaces

  • System monitoring

  • Bespoke integrations with third-party automation and access systems

If you are interested in building a custom application with the API, contact ICT Customer Services for more information and pricing. The new Protege X API Developer Guide section of the online help has everything developers need to get started with testing and using the API.

Also new is the ability to create Personal Access Tokens (PATs) for secure access to the API. Each PAT is a unique passcode that allows an application to log in to the Protege X system without a username and password. PATs can be given only the access permissions that they need to run the application, enabling you to connect custom applications to your Protege X places without compromising the security of the system.

To make the process of creating PATs easier, the default Installer role now has the right to create and edit PATs and roles. In addition this role is now editable, so these permissions can be turned off again if required.

Protege WX Migration Improvements

Protege X has some convenient default records, like the Instant input type and Card Only door type. But it's not so convenient when those same defaults are imported again from your Protege WX controller database. And again from the second controller, and the third, and the fourth...

When you import a new database from Protege WX, any identical default input types and door types will be merged to prevent endless duplications and programming headaches.
