Creating the Place
To get started in Protege X the first thing you need is a place. The place represents the operating entity or organization and contains all the records for a customer's entire system.
Operators are assigned to a place and will sign in to the place they are authorized to access. An operator can be assigned to multiple places.
Each place has one or more locations which represent the physical locations of operation. A location could be any physical location such as a building or a site, and may contain multiple areas such as office spaces, carparks and warehouses. A place may have just one location or many locations across multiple cities or countries.
To create a place, contact ICT Customer Services.
You will need to provide:
- The name of the place (i.e. the primary client or organization)
- Details for your operator record, including your email address for logging in to the place
When your place is created you will be added as an operator of that place, and will receive an emailed invitation to activate your operator account so that you can sign in to Protege X.
When your place is created the following default records will be automatically added.
- A location. This will be added with the same name as the place. The name can be manually updated as required.
- Standard default door types
- Standard default input types
- Default daylight savings configurations for each of the following regions: Australia, New Zealand, North America, UK & Europe.
These records will then be utilized to automatically add downstream hardware records when a controller or expander module is added. This will simplify the setup process by providing the basic requirements for essential programming.
Daylight savings configurations are added based on the information provided at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time_by_country. These records are not automatically maintained so integrators will be responsible for updating these configurations over time as required.
